Possible side effects include local atrophy, hypersensitivity reactions, dryness, and irritation. Prolonged use may lead to systemic absorption and cortisol hyperplasia. In rare cases, it may induce a brain-like illness when treating psoriasis.
Xenosal is used to treat inflammatory skin conditions, including different forms of eczema. It is also used to manage psoriasis, reducing the severity of the symptoms.
Xenosal 30 Ointment contains Clobetasol Propionate, a high potency corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, and Salicylic Acid, which has keratolytic and mild antiseptic effects. Clobetasol Propionate works by stabilizing the lysosomal membranes of leukocytes, thereby reducing inflammation. Salicylic Acid helps by softening and removing the outer layer of the skin.
Apply a thin layer of Xenosal 30 Ointment to the affected skin areas twice daily and rub in gently and completely. Do not use occlusive dressings and do not use it for more than two consecutive weeks without reassessment by a doctor. For children under 12 years of age, the use of this ointment is not recommended.
There are no known interactions with Clobetasol Propionate when used topically. However, Salicylic Acid may increase the absorption of other topically applied drugs, so avoid using it on the same skin area as other topical medications.
Xenosal 30 Ointment is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Clobetasol Propionate or Salicylic Acid, primary infected bacterial or fungal skin lesions without concurrent use of anti-infective agents, primary viral skin infections, tuberculosis skin lesions, and in children under one year of age.
The safety of using Clobetasol Propionate during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been established. Use only if the expected benefit outweighs the possible risk. The safety of Salicylic Acid during pregnancy and lactation has also not been established, so use with caution.
Avoid long-term use, high concentrations, or application over large areas of the body. Do not apply to damaged skin, mouth, eyes, mucous membranes, or anogenital areas. Use cautiously if you have altered peripheral circulation or diabetes.
Store Xenosal 30 Ointment in a cool, dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
